For most of my dining experiences, I do a bit of research. The result is that most of my reviews are either good or very good. Testina was a delightful surprise. Our dinner on a Friday night was a simply outstanding amount experience: ambiance, service, food, and wine.
Testina's menu is concise: 3 to 4 selections for each course: appetiser, pastas, Secundo, and desserts. There is also a prix fixe menu using these same selections.
The all Italian wine list is extensive with red and white wines from all regions. I guess there over 50 bottles from which to choose. There all also 75cl bottles of craft beer available.
We went in May, 2016. Having already had a pre-dinner Happy Hour, we had pasta, dessert, and a delightful Italian Red. Overall, we had a fantastic meal: food, ambiance, and service. -

By far the best experience that we had in Milan. We stopped here while waiting for our train to Rome on recommendation of our hotel (the Crowne Plaza) on A Sunday on Xmas Eve. We were the first people in the restaurant and were a little anxious about that being Americans and all. The person that showed us to our table was a little cold but soon Massimo came to our table and really made our day. He was very attentive and really made us feel like part of his family. A really warm and overall great guy. Thanks Massimo for making our day. The food here was awesome as well as the wine and extremely affordable from an an Americano perspective.
When we return to Milan this will be our first stop. -

My husband and I believe dining should be an experience not just a time for eating. This meal was an experience! Our server, who was the manager, spoke English extremely well and suggested a Sicilian red wine that was phenomenal. My dish was Il Salto, a traditional Milanese risotto dish that is pressed into the pan and fried on both sides in butter then topped with asparagus and cheese. Oh my, was it delicious. When I asked how it was made, our server spent time talking with me about cooking techniques and the tradition of the dish. After dinner we asked for the selection of cheeses and he brought us a plate with three different Milanese cheese, all goat, and took time to explain each one. They were each wonderful! After our meal, we ordered espresso and a latte macchiato. Along with our coffee, our server brought us small bowl with what looked like croutons and told us there were four ingredients and we were to guess all four. We got three of the four. I will leave the surprise up to your visit. It was fantastic! We finished the evening with a Lemoncello that was smooth and lemony. A fantastic ending to a fantastic meal. Go and enjoy this restaurant.
